Martin's birthday

Age: Kindergarten

Characters:

- Martin
- Peter
- Tom

Synopsis:

Martin the monkey prepares a birthday party and Peter the parrot helps him to send the invitations. However, when Peter is flying to Tom the tiger house he crashes into a tall tree and loses his invitation.
The day of the party Martin and his friends are having fun when Tom the tiger appears and roars really loudly and he starts chasing all the guests.
Martin asks tom why he looks so furious and he says that he didn’t get an invitation for the party. Martin is confused because he sends him one so Peter has to recognize that he lost the card but he didn’t want to tell them because you would have laughed at him.
Martin denies that and says that he is really grateful for his help.
Tom, hearing that he was invited, is happy and all the animals enjoyed at the party.


Characters descriptions and objectives:

-       Martin:  Is a friendly monkey who wishes to spend a great birthday party with all his friends.
-       Peter: Is a shy and inhibited parrot. He wants to please everybody.
-       Tom: Is a furious tiger. He feels melancholy because he would like to have more friends.
-       Narrators: Introduces the story to the audience. There is a difference narrator to each scene.
-       Group of animals: Elle the elephant, Sam the snake, Zoe the zebra and Bart the bat. All of them go to Martin’s birthday. They liven up the party.




Scene breakdown

Scene 1: The scene is setting in Martin’s house. Martin and Peter are preparing the party. The narrator 1 presents two of the main characters.

Scene 2: In the jungle.
 Peter is flying to Martin’s friends houses to give them the invitations. Narrator 2 explains to us the problem that Peter has to face.

Scene 3: Scene set in the jungle. Everything is decorated for a birthday party. It is the day of Martin’s Party and all his friends are there. Suddenly Tom appears at the party. Narrator 3 and 4 tell us about the party and the events that take place.

Additional information
This story is written for eleven students, we can add more characters by having more animals at the party.

Each child will have a mask of their animal and it would be a good idea that they wear clothes with the color of each animal. E. g. Martin the monkey could wear a monkey mask and brown trousers and t- shirt.

  1. I think you did a great work, Ana! This is a perfect story for my 1st grade students. I like it because we can easily adapt it to out class group by adding or removing animals :)

  2. I think it is a nice story and it could be easy to perform, specially for 1st graders.
    You can teach animals, the birthday topic, and how to make invitations.
    Good job!!
